Front Mission Evolved Update 2-SKIDROW.zip: What's New and Improved in the Latest Version

Glad to see this tiny unincorporated area finally get some attention in the LA Times. I work in the area and I assure you that the majority of Latino and Black head of households are extremely hardworking people trying to do the right thing. I happen to know several young people from the area who have gone on to higher education as well as first time home buyers who are truly trying to invest in the area. The number one issue is simply that the area has very limited political representation and NO CITY COUNCIL. There is no centralized location to hold political leaders accountable. At the local level it is solely represented by Mark Ridley Thomas' office. The LA County Community Development Commission and the Dept of Public Works need to prioritize this area. They must MAINTAIN and CLEAN all the commercial frontages along Vermont and the ALLEYS. The brand new park/green space trail along Vermont is pretty useless given the high vehicle speeds and poor accessibility. Whose jurisdiction is it in case of an emergency, Sheriff or LAPD? It sits right on the boundary of county and city of LA. People in the area need empowerment and a sense of entitlement to complain to Sheriff, Public works and Mark Ridley Thomas. No more liq stores or churches please!

Volunteers of America had evolved from being an evangelical mission to that of being a well-established human services agency with programs designed to enhance the ability of individuals to return to independent, self-sufficient lives in their community.
